Cross-country analysis of social determinants, immigration, race, and health disparities

Shervin Assari’s global health focus examines differences between immigrants and native-born individuals in how social determinants (such as education and income) affect health. He has conducted studies in multiple countries across Europe, Asia, North America, and Latin America. His interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of strengthening systems for health, addressing social and environmental determinants of health, and developing technical solutions. Assari’s research includes cross-country comparisons of the social determinants of health and explores how immigration, race, and class collectively shape health outcomes. This work addresses health disparities in China, the Middle East, North America, and several Latin American countries.
