Psychosocial influences on chronic disease self-management, adolescent diabetes, participatory research and digital health technology

Melissa DeJonckheere’s global health focus centers on psychosocial influences in chronic disease self-management, with particular attention to adolescents with diabetes. She collaborates with investigators across disciplines to improve health care delivery and outcomes among diverse populations. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of strengthening systems for health and addressing social and environmental determinants of health. DeJonckheere’s research leverages qualitative, mixed methods, and participatory approaches to explore self-management in chronic disease. She is also interested in improving access to and engagement in research training opportunities for youth from historically marginalized groups.
