Applying advanced quantitative methods to address health equity

Matthew Diemer’s global work focuses on research methodologies and using advanced methods to address health equity. His interests in global health equity align with the Center themes of addressing social and environmental determinants of health and providing technical solutions. Diemer is interested in how marginalized people develop critical consciousness, which is an analysis of societal inequalities and the motivation for social change. His recent work examines best practices in conceptualizing and measuring social class, the validation of a critical consciousness scale, and how family wealth contributes to intergenerational success. Diemer also holds appointments at the U-M Institute for Social Research and in the Department of Psychology (LSA).
