Maternal and infant health in Angola

Anne Pitcher’s global work focuses on examining the political economy of urban residential development, the distribution of goods under authoritarianism, and the role of regulatory agencies in Africa. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center theme of strengthening systems for health. Specifically, she has undertaken extensive fieldwork in Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia, and Angola. Pitcher built a dataset on the characteristics of privatization agencies in 29 African countries and is currently geo-coding residential projects completed in Luanda, Angola. She serves as president of the African Studies Association.
