Ann Jeffers’s global health focus centers on wildfires and the impacts of smoke and air pollution on human populations, with particular attention to the long-term health effects of particulate matter and other wildfire-related pollutants. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of strengthening systems for health, addressing social and environmental determinants of health, and developing technical solutions. Jeffers’s research focuses on understanding how wildfire smoke affects health outcomes in human populations. Although her work has primarily focused on North America, she aims to extend her research to communities in Africa, South America, and Europe.
