Rajendra Parajuli’s global health focus centers on understanding how environmental exposures—particularly pesticides and other contaminants—affect human health, with an emphasis on vulnerable populations such as children and communities in agricultural settings. His work aims to identify exposure risks and inform prevention strategies that support environmental health equity in low- and middle-income countries. His interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of strengthening systems for health, addressing social and environmental determinants of health, and developing technical solutions. Parajuli’s research examines environmental exposures and their impacts on neurocognitive development, infectious diseases, and other health outcomes using epidemiological and exposomics approaches. He also uses longitudinal birth cohort designs to evaluate in utero and postnatal exposures, and explores how socioeconomic and psychosocial factors (such as home environment and adverse childhood experiences) shape exposure-related health outcomes to inform equitable interventions and policy.
