Research Area Specialist Lead

Navasuja Kumar’s global health focus centers on examining the prevalence, burden, and health consequences of vision impairment among older adults in India using population-based data. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of strengthening systems for health and addressing social and environmental determinants of health. Kumar’s research involves partnering with ophthalmologists and statisticians in India to analyze population-based data on the links between vision impairment, chronic disease burden, and access to care. This work is intended to support evidence-based strategies for reducing avoidable vision loss and promoting healthy aging in global populations.
