NaRi Shin’s global health focus centers on how sport and physical activity shape well-being, belonging, and access to safe, inclusive spaces for marginalized communities, especially across migration and diaspora contexts. She examines how racism, gendered hierarchies, and institutional practices influence participation and health-related opportunities across global and local settings. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of empowering women and addressing social and environmental determinants of health. Shin’s research uses qualitative and critical approaches to study globalization, migration, and governance in sport and physical activity, with attention to how these forces produce or reduce inequities. Her work centers on Korea and Korean diaspora communities, analyzing organizations, communities, and major events to identify pathways toward equity and inclusion.
