Naresh Gunaratnam, MD

Naresh Gunaratnam’s global work focuses on dental and oral health and improving diabetes mellitus care delivery through patient education and technology.Naresh’s interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of strengthening systems for health and developing technical solutions for health equity.Gunaratnam has participated with U-M colleagues on projects that aim to improve diabetes care delivery in Sri Lanka. He trains medical assistants to collect patient data, utilize cloud-based technologies, and provide crucial patient education. This model aims to enhance workforce capacity and improve diabetes care by addressing systemic healthcare congestion and supporting chronic disease management.
