Community-led health initiatives and equity for marginalized and SGM populations

Kevin Ouma’s global health focus centers on advancing health equity for marginalized communities, particularly Sexual and Gender Minority (SGM) populations, through community-led health programs, rights-based advocacy, and integrated mental health and economic empowerment interventions. He is committed to strengthening locally driven solutions that address structural barriers and expand access to inclusive, quality healthcare. His interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of strengthening systems for health, addressing social and environmental determinants of health, and developing technical solutions. Ouma’s global research focuses on understanding and addressing the social, structural, and economic determinants that shape health outcomes among marginalized communities, particularly SGM populations. He is interested in generating evidence that strengthens community-led interventions and informs policies that advance global health equity.
