Asthma, airway remodeling, and environmental determinants of lung health

Fatima Fattahi’s global health focus centers on asthma, allergic diseases, and chronic respiratory diseases, with an emphasis on airway remodeling and the environmental determinants of lung health. She is particularly interested in reducing respiratory health disparities and improving outcomes for populations disproportionately affected by chronic respiratory diseases. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of addressing social and environmental determinants of health and developing technical solutions. Fattahi’s research uses molecular, translational, and genomic studies with human patient samples and experimental models to investigate the mechanisms underlying chronic airway inflammation and remodeling.
