Genomic disease architecture, research infrastructure

Cris Van Hout's global health work focuses on understanding the genetic architecture of common and rare diseases in underrecognized populations and building genomic research infrastructure in Mexico and Latin America to improve genetic disease understanding and clinical translation. His interests in global health equity align with the Center's themes of strengthening systems for health and developing technical solutions. Van Hout's research examines the genetic underpinnings of diseases and traits through statistical genetics, population genomics, and methods for large-scale genomic studies. His interests in genetic health equity align with characterizing disease variants across populations and advancing knowledge of genetic variation and disease mechanisms in underserved groups.
