Research Associate Professor

Colter Mitchell’s global health focus centers on creating harmonized, country-representative population-based studies incorporating biomarkers. His work involves building infrastructure—including training, lab facilities, and local expertise—to support the collection of vital, policy-relevant data worldwide. His interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of strengthening systems for health, addressing social and environmental determinants of health, and developing technical solutions. Mitchell’s research spans diverse contexts, exploring the influence of early childhood environments—from in utero through early adulthood, especially for those living in poverty—on later health. He relies on a range of biomarkers to construct health profiles before clinical symptoms emerge.
