Addiction education, harm reduction, and nursing training in Latin America

Chin Hwa Dahlem’s global health focus centers on advancing addiction education and training for nurses in Latin America, with the goal of supporting harm reduction principles and creating sustainable systems of care for people who use drugs and those in recovery. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of strengthening systems for health and addressing social and environmental determinants of health. Dahlem’s research and global engagement are developing through partnerships with Brazilian nursing colleagues and professional councils. She recently co-led a two-day addiction workshop for Brazilian nurses and aims to continue advancing addiction education and training through sustained collaboration.
