Research Assistant Professor

Aleda Leis' global health focus centers on examining regional differences in recovery trajectories following infection with vaccine-preventable diseases like acute respiratory viruses. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center's themes of empowering women, addressing social and environmental determinants of health, and developing technical solutions. Dr. Leis's research focuses additionally on exploring disparities in the care and treatment of type 2 diabetes and other cardiometabolic diseases, particularly among women, aiming to understand the underlying factors contributing to unequal health outcomes and to develop strategies for more equitable healthcare access. Although her work is currently local, she intends to expand her research efforts to a global scale.
